Codex Sinaiticus

It’s possible that you have heard that the Codex Sinaiticus is being made available online for the very first time. It’s also possible that you have no idea what that means.

Basically, this is a hand-written copy of the Bible in Greek dating back to the middle of the fourth century (around A.D. 350). Now think about that – a hand-written copy of the Bible that is nearly 1700 years old! That means that this copy was made only about 250-300 years after the NT was originally written. Obviously, most people will not be able to read it. Even those who can read Greek will find it difficult because of the writing style of the day. That’s not the point (because some people can).

What makes this important is that God has preserved his Word just as he promised.   1. I think it is awesome that we still have copies of the Bible from all those years ago. What a way to be sure we are being taught what God wanted us to learn.
