For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another. Romans 12:4-5
Wow – yesterday’s message was tough! We finished our “LEGO Church” series with a call to commitment to the local church. Even with a lot of light moments, it was a tough message. (If you missed it, you can listen to it here.)
It was tough to look into the eyes of friends – many of whom I know are committed – and ask for more.
It was tough to ask – almost accusingly – why we are more committed to a football team (on Superbowl Sunday) than to Christ’s church.
It was tough to say, “If you’re not going to live like a Christ-follower, don’t tell people you’re a part of Oak Tree Community Church. We don’t need that testimony.”
A call to commitment is always tough.
But in the end, it’s worth it.
Yesterday we had 8 members voluntarily sign the OTCC Membership Covenant again to signify that they’re still committed. Thanks for you continued commitment!
And we had 5 attendees sign it for the first time, committing themselves to God, to the other church members, and to the church leadership. Congratulations and welcome to the membership!
Calls to commitment are tough. But I believe OTCC is up for the challenge. And in the end, we will win, and God will get the credit as his “LEGO Church” continues to be built one piece at a time.
